This is a vintage single issue of Mad Magazine, number 139, published in December 1970. The dynamic cover, titled "THE MAGAZINE OF THE LOUD MINORITY," depicts Alfred E. Neuman in a fur coat amidst a chaotic crowd of protesters holding signs with various slogans like "RIGHT ON!," "HELL NO!," "POWER TO THE PEOPLE," "PIGS OFF CAMPUS," and "PEACE NOW!," reflecting the social unrest of the late 1960s/early 1970s. The back cover features a satirical political campaign poster titled "The Spiro of '76," with a note at the top mentioning "Unless Mr. Nixon dumps Mr. Agnew as his running mate in '72, the Vice-President will almost certainly develop Presidential aspirations, and we'll be sure to see this." This is a direct reference to Spiro Agnew, then Vice President, and the upcoming 1972 election. Inside, the table of contents lists numerous classic Mad humor pieces, including "BERG'S-EYE View Department" ("The Lighter Side Of The Revolutionary Movement"), "Coffee, Tea And Milked Department," "Death By Election Department" ("MAD's Non-Blunderous Political Smear Speech"), "Don Martin Department" ("One Day At A Construction Site" and "One Day On A Splash Pad"), "Fowl Play Department" ("Hawks & Doves"), "Here's To You, Mr. Robinson! Dept.," "Inside-Ouch Department" ("Behind The Scenes At An Advertising Agency"), "Joke And Dagged Department," "Letters Department," "Marginal Thinking Department," "Minor Adjustment Department," "Outside Pitch Department," "Putting The Right On Department," "Sitting Bull Department" ("Ironride" - A MAD TV Satire), "There's One In Every Crowd Department," and "X-Ploy-Tation Department" ("Ads For Movie Revivals"). It also features "Airplop!" (likely an "Airport" movie satire) and "MAD's Patient Majority Magazine." This issue offers a rich historical snapshot of the social and political satire prevalent at the turn of the decade.
